School Counsellor
A School Counsellor is a practical professional who helps deliver reliable outcomes in day-to-day operations. You'll work with patients, families and maintain clear risk assessments so decisions and actions stay on track. You'll balance quality and pace, using judgement to triage requests and escalate risks at the right time. Success looks like timely follow-through, strong communication and confident use of tools such as clinical systems (varies by service).
What you’ll do day to day
- Support medication safety and infection prevention practices where relevant
- Contribute to quality improvement and risk management activities
- Communicate clearly with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team
- Complete documentation and handovers to ensure continuity of care
- Promote dignity, privacy and culturally safe practice in all interactions
- Deliver safe, person-centred care in line with clinical standards and scope of practice
Skills and tools to learn
Core skills: teamwork, risk assessment, empathy, clinical communication, documentation
Software/Platforms: telehealth tools, clinical systems (varies by service), Microsoft 365
Methods/Knowledge: care planning, medication safety (as applicable), infection prevention
