A Payroll Officer is a outcomes-focused professional who helps deliver reliable outcomes in day-to-day operations. You'll work with finance teams, operations and maintain clear reports so decisions and actions stay on track. You'll balance quality and pace, using judgement to triage requests and escalate risks at the right time. You'll be successful when stakeholders feel supported, work is well documented, and systems like Power BI are kept reliable and current.

What you’ll do day to day

  • Improve spreadsheets and templates to reduce errors and manual effort
  • Support month-end activities and timelines to meet reporting deadlines
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards, ensuring data is accurate and timely
  • Assist with reconciliations, invoice processing and financial record keeping
  • Analyse variances and highlight risks, issues or opportunities for action
  • Maintain documentation for processes, controls and audit readiness

Skills and tools to learn

Core skills: analysis, problem solving, attention to detail, numeracy, stakeholder communication

Software/Platforms: Power BI, Xero/MYOB, Excel, ERP/accounting platforms
